Meet Team Your Kid's Next Read
Your Kid’s Next Read was founded, created and nurtured by author Allison Tait, author, editor and teacher-librarian Megan Daley, and author Allison Rushby. Here’s a quick overview of who we are and what we do.
Founded in 2017 as a Facebook community by Allison Tait and
Megan Daley, the popularity of the group grew so quickly that
Allison Rushby was soon invited to join the team. (See details
about each team member below.)
Since then, Your Kid’s Next Read has grown organically and exponentially. A podcast was added in 2021, to expand on and foster the conversations taking place in the group, and advocate for Australian children’s authors.
With the recent addition of a Substack newsletter, Your Kid’s Next Read has further cemented its place as an integral part of the Australian children’s publishing industry.
Megan Daley
Megan Daley is a Teacher Librarian and has been awarded the Australian Teacher Librarian of the Year and the Queensland Teacher Librarian of the Year, as well as the national Dromkeen Librarian’s Award.
Megan is the author of the bestselling book ‘Raising Readers’ (UQP, 2019) and editor of the ‘Teacher, Teacher’ anthology (Affirm Press, 2023). Her debut picture book ‘The Beehive’ will be published by Walker Books in 2024.
A former national vice-president of the Children’s Book Council of Australia, Megan is also a regular literary judge, curator of 2023 Brisbane Writers Festival Word Play program, a workshop presenter and the creator of the popular website Children’s Books Daily.
Allison Tait

Allison Tait (A.L. Tait) is the internationally published bestselling author of middle-grade adventure series The Mapmaker Chronicles the Ateban Cipher novels, and the Maven & Reeve Mysteries.
Her latest novel THE FIRST SUMMER OF CALLIE McGEE is a ‘cosy middle-grade mystery’ (out now).
A multi-genre writer, creative writing teacher and speaker with many years’ experience in magazines, newspapers and online publishing, Allison is co-host of the top-rating Your Kid’s Next Read podcast and former co-host of the So You Want To Be A Writer podcast.
Allison is a YKNR community manager and talks a lot.
Allison Rushby

Allison Rushby is a children’s, YA and fiction author with more than 20 books to her name. Her middle-grade books The Turnkey and The Mulberry Tree (Walker / Candlewick) are spooky tales aimed at intermediate readers. Her latest series are the Miss Penny Dreadful mysteries and The Wish Sisters series for junior readers.
